A Refurbished and New 11 bay Modular Building comprising a new 4 bay modular building, a Relocated and Refurbished 6 Bay and a Single Robot Bay
Leicester Royal Infirmary (NHS) Direct - Leicester Royal Infirmary is close to Leicester city centre. The hospital has approximately 1,000 beds and provides Leicestershire’s only accident and emergency service (our Emergency Department). It is also the base for their Children’s Hospital
The Hospital wanted to refurbish then combine an existing modular building with additional modular space on a new site. The project included linking the existing modular Trust Med Pharmacy, relocating another existing 6 bay modular building, refurbishing and linking the two buildings with a new 4 bay building and an additional single bay modular building.
As you would imagine there were a number of issues we needed to confront on a busy NHS site. These included tight timescales along with major health & safety demands on a 24/7 operational site that clearly included hospital staff and members of the public. Additionally, there were strict compliance regulations to be followed and a detailed specification to meet.
Firstly we spent, time with the client and their Architect to fully understand their planned outcome for the project and help them take full advantage of all the possibilities and potential challenges posed by working with new & refurbished units. As mentioned, the specification was very detailed and working conditions were stringent given the demanding health & safety and compliance regulations.
Very interesting project for the GCS team, working closely with the Jeff Howarth and the Hospital Admin team and their Architect to optimise the existing building. Then linking with brand new modules to deliver a space large enough to accommodate a reception area, waiting room, consultation rooms and pharmacy. The client now has a building delivering much improved efficiencies in a bright, airy welcoming areas and an awful lot of space for their investment
“GCS Group were responsible for the supply of two new modular buildings to facilitate a waiting area and a space for a new robot. We looked at several alternative suppliers, but chose GCS on cost and quality, they wete the only Company we found that offred a bespoke solution in the time frame that we had to work with. They were a pleasure to work with and wen the extra mile to deliver the project which was challenging considering the works were at the centre of the Hospital”
